Who does the counseling at CFTH?
We offer counselling for both couples and individuals. Please see our counsellors page for information about each of our counsellors.
What kind of time commitment is this counseling?
Counseling happens over the span of four days (Tues - Fri) in the afternoon. The nature of the counselling is very intensive and requires homework every night. We suggest that each couple take the four days away from other responsibilities in order to focus on their own relationship and get the most out of their counselling sessions.
Where will I have to go to get counseling?
Our office is located at 405C Josephine Street, Wingham, ON.
What are my options for listening to the messages?
We require each of our clients to listen to Bob’s messages which can be found here on the website, OR purchase specific resources from us (cds or dvds from the website) to watch before coming in. Orders can be made through our website or over the phone. Our purpose for doing this is twofold; first, it prepares our clients for the kind of teaching that they will be hearing and working through during their sessions. Second, listening to these materials in advance saves time during the counselling process, and our counsellors can spend more time on the individual needs our clients are dealing with.
Why do I have to do a personality questionnaire and handouts?
This is a questionnaire (190 questions) that we ask all of our clients to fill out prior to counseling. Each individual will need to fill our one on themselves, and one on their spouse (if applicable), as well as one on each of their own parents. Answering these questionnaires saves about 10 hours of valuable counselling time, and assists our counsellors in understanding some potential areas of need for each individual client.
I want to get in for counseling as soon as I can. Can I book an appointment right away?
No. Prior to booking an appointment, we have all of our clients complete some preparation paperwork. Once that is done and processed, we will reach out to you with some potential dates for booking. Please Note: For couples, this application process can take 6 - 8 months as we have typically have a large volume of people applying for counselling.
Is there a cost for the counseling?
Your donations are greatly appreciated, and they help to keep our office running. We are a charitable organization and therefore do not have a set fee for the counselling services we offer. Find out more about partnering with us here. We do provide charitable receipts for donations.
Can I bring my children to my session or is child care provided?
We do not allow our clients to bring children to the sessions or have them in the building in order to allow our couples to give their full attention to the counselling process. It is the responsibility or each couple to arrange for any childcare that may be needed during the duration of your counselling sessions.
Does CFTH do Zoom appointments?
At this time we are not counseling on Zoom although our follow up appointments are done on Zoom.
Does CFTH do counseling other than marriage counseling?
We offer counseling for individuals, as well as premarital counseling. We also offer parenting seminars and resources. Check here to find out more about our counselling process, and here to learn more about our parenting programs!
What denomination is CFTH?
We are a Christian non-denominational organization that provides pastoral counseling.
