Caring for the Heart Ministries is committed to assist....
...individuals, couples and families find freedom in three main problem areas:
We apply Biblical principles in leading you to find freedom from each problem. (II Peter 1:3) We do not judge you for where you are or have been, but seek to lead you to freedom. This freedom will result in your experiencing God's purpose, fulfillment, joy and peace in your relationship with Him and with others. (Gal. 5:1, John 10:10)
We depend upon the Holy Spirit to lead counsellors in assisting you to resolve each of your problems. The Holy Spirit must direct, convict and enable you in this process.
- Emotional Issues stemming from abuse or other emotionally damaging problems - these issues take healing. (Luke 4:18)
- Spiritual Problems including unresolved bitterness, pride, rebellion, temporal values, hypocrisy, moral failure, lying, stealing etc. - these issues take repentance and putting away. (I John 1:9)
- Spiritual Strongholds stemming from giving ground to the enemy through specific activities that allow the enemy to influence people. These may include, but are not limited to, involvement in the occult, rebellion, drugs, etc. - these issues take renouncing and forsaking. (Eph. 4:27, I Sam 15:23)

The Counselling Process
Coming in for counselling here at Caring for the Heart in Wingham, Ontario, generally means you will come in for four consecutive days, about 3 hours a day. During this time, you will identify and resolve issues and work to develop new patterns for facing challenges in the future. Homework is given each day as well, so we ask you to take this time away from all other commitments and focus on the counselling and related work.
Prior to your arrival, we ask all participants to complete some assessments including an ‘Emotional Pain Word’ sheet and the Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis (TJTA). The TJTA is completed on yourself and your spouse (if applicable). This assessment allows the counsellor to aid you in determining where your areas of concern may be and how these patterns of behaviour may have been established.
All participants are also required to view the DVD series by John Regier entitled Identifying and Resolving Spiritual Issues (available for purchase here on our website). An alternative would be to listen to the messages found on this website by Pastor Bob Bramhill. The foundational teaching found in these DVDs and messages will aid the counselling process
We look forward to being able to serve you in this capacity! Contact us at 226.422.3015 if we can be of assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who does the counseling at CFTH?
Pastor Bob counsels couples and individuals. There are female counselors for single women that would like to access counseling as well. Please see our Counsellor page to see more information on our counsellors.
What kind of time commitment is this counseling?
Counseling happens over the span of four days (Tues - Fri) in the afternoon. The nature of the counselling is very intensive and requires homework every night. We suggest that each couple take the four days away to focus on their own relationship to get the most out of the counselling sessions.
Where will I have to go to get counseling?
Our office, 405C Josephine Street, Wingham, ON. Some of our female counselors counsel out of their homes.
What are my options for listening to the messages?
The client will need to listen to Bob’s messages (under the “Messages” tab) on the website OR purchase resources from us (cds or dvds from the website) to watch before coming in. They can order from the website or over the phone. We have our clients listen to material before they come in, which prepares them for the kind of teaching that they will be hearing. I.e. - John Regier’s Identifying and Resolving Spiritual Issues, or Bob’s messages on our Messages page . When they listen to material, it saves time from him teaching, and he can spend more time on the issues that you're dealing with.
Why do I have to do a personality questionnaire and handouts?
This is a questionnaire (190 questions) to fill out prior to counseling. Husband will do one on himself and the wife, the wife on herself and the husband, both individuals answer the same questions about their parents. The parents aren’t involved in the process. This saves about 10 hours worth of talking in helping the counselor see some potential areas of need.
I want to get in for counseling as soon as I can. Can I book an appointment right away?
No, unless it is a cancellation appointment. Prior to booking an appointment, we have all of our clients complete some preparation paperwork. Once that is done and processed, we will reach out to you with some potential dates for booking. We have a waiting list, but there is a cancellation list that you can opt into if you choose.
Please Note: For couples, this application process can take 6 - 8 months as we have typically have a large volume of people applying for counselling. We understand some cases are urgent and we will reach out to you as soon as possible with the next steps. If you would like to put your names on the cancellation list, we will notify you if short term cancellations come up.

Is there a cost for the counseling?
We are a charitable organization and therefore do not charge for the counselling services. We make information available if you would like to donate (Partner With Us). Your donations help us keep the office running. We also provide charitable receipts for donations.
Can I bring my children to my session or is child care provided?
We do not allow people to bring children to the sessions or have them in the building as there are other ministries and counselling happening in other areas of our building.
If you want to make arrangements for someone to look after your children at your time of booking we can possibly give you some names of people that you can contact who might be interested in giving you that service for a fee.
